Consigning Fine Fishing Tackle

My Approach

In the course of many years of rodbuilding I’ve often been asked to help people both buy and sell classic tackle. First of all I should say that that has never been my full-time job — rodmaking is — but I do enjoy helping people find what they are looking for as well as helping unwanted tackle find new and appreciative homes. As a bit of a fine tackle enthusiast myself, I know the enjoyment that comes from adding something new to the collection or taking a new rod or reel off to the nearest stream. Many people are scared by the used tackle market — and occasionally they’re wise to be — so my goal is simply to make things as fair and straightforward as I can. I won’t take items if I don’t have the time to do justice to their inspection and appraisal and I won’t take money for items for which I can’t find buyers. I also don’t sell items unless they’re actually in my own possession and I’ve been able to go over them myself and can vouch for their condition. Pretty simple. I’m especially interested in the following:

Rods: Leonard, Payne, Gillum, Halstead, FE Thomas, Tom Maxwell, Sam Carlson, Garrison, Edwards, Orvis, Dickerson, Paul Young, EC Powell, RL Winston, Gary Howells, Thomas and Thomas

Reels: Hardy, Bogdan, Vom Hofe, Zwarg, Saracione, Walker, Dingley, Godfrey

Nuts and Bolts

My standard consignment fee is 20% – pretty much the standard in this business — and it includes an appraisal, several product photos and a written description on our website. As of this writing our site is currently one of the most trafficked bamboo rod sites on the internet and is growing consistently every month. Consigned items also have access to our extensive email list of customers and collectors who hail from America, Europe, and the Far East. I ask that items stay on consignment for a minimum of 120 days. Unsold items will be returned to the owner less the cost of shipping and insurance, if applicable.

If you have tackle to sell and are interested in doing so, or if you have general questions please contact me. I’m happy to try and help!

Best,

Marc
