A late model Leonard Hunt 38-4 fly rod, 7', 2-piece, 2-tips, built for a #4 line. A rod built during the Brian McGrath era. Serial #110. 3 ounces. Very near mint condition, with no hand soiling to the grip and no reel foot impressions on the spacer. Some slight brassing to the inner guides. Nice medium-fast action. The cane is flamed and in a 3-up node pattern. The wraps are plum with four windawars at the keeper and the tips. Carbide stripping guide. One small problem needs attention - one tip twists off to the right and the tip top has been set to line up with the lower guide. Unfortunately this put the tip top at the corner rather than at the flat. Pull the tip-top off and reset it, straighten the twist, and you should be good to go. The tips have a kind of matte finish as if they have been rubbed but not polished. 4 1/2" long medium cigar grip. The mortised, varnished slide band seat is mahogany. The cap and ring and the ferrules all retain 100% of the original bluing. The cap is stamped "HL Leonard Rod Co, The Rod Maker, Since 1889" in a cartouche. Packed in the original tube.
