A superb Edward Vom Hofe Model 360 Perfection fly reel in scarce 1/0 size, and in excellent overall condition. This reel must have been a special order as it has the unusual feature of having a Restigouche model style 7-position drag on the faceplate - rare indeed! 3 1/4" diameter with 1 1/8" wide spool. This reel carries the '96 patent date on the oil cap. Serial number G313. German silver / hard rubber construction. Aluminum spool and foot. No chips/cracks in the hard rubber sideplates though some very faint scratches. I suspect that the sideplates may have been given a careful polish at some point. The screws are in excellent shape overall. As mentioned, this reel has a Restigouche-style adjustable drag with seven detent pointer with red dot indicators (three are bright, the lacquer has faded on four of them). The reel foot is original, full-length, and straight, with some slight mounting marks at one end. Mechanically the reel remains in excellent condition with a great drag and smooth-running operation. An unusual and rare example of this much coveted reel and in a size that is very hard to find. You won't see examples like this very often!
This reel comes from the collection of Dr. Earl Fleegler, a passionate angler and well-known collector in the fly fishing community as well as a renowned hand surgeon. Dr. Fleegler was close friends with a number of angling luminaries including Tom Maxwell, Vince Marinaro, and Stan Bogdan (among others) and devoted considerable effort to collecting some of the finest tackle available from masters of the craft.
