This reel boasts the pawl strap characteristic of the 1896 check but has the vertically oriented calipers that would come into place around 1904. My best guess is that this reel dates from 1899-1902. This reel also has an aluminum winding plate with the early 3-logo stamp configuration that includes the iconic rod-in-hand. I've seen very few alloy reels boasting 3 logos, I can probably count them on one hand. The reel is in good condition overall with normal cosmetic wear that you would expect from a reel of its age. The only real notable issue is that either end of the foot has been dressed. Ivorine handle that spins freely. Drag is nice and smooth and the drag adjuster works as it should. The spool is nice and tight with no play or wobble whatsoever. The reel comes in a handsome D block case.
