For sale here is a Horrocks-Ibbotson "President" 8'6" 4wt 3/2 bamboo fly rod. The rod is in good condition. The only issue is an all over varnish meltdown and alligatoring. It could possibly be polished out. Otherwise, a very fine example of an early H-I. All sections are full length and straight. The ferrules fit together tightly. Despite the varnish problems all of the wraps and many intermediate wraps are intact. Cigar style grip is lightly soiled. Nickel silver reel seat with aluminum down-locking sliding band. Reverse English-style guides are very small to accommodate the thin silk lines of the day. The rod has a very slow full flexing, wet fly action. Ferrule sizes 14/64 and 9/64. The rod weighs 4.7 oz. Rod comes with original red velvet lined bag and velvet tip holder with leather end caps. Most likely originally sold without a tube. A very neat piece of American fly fishing history.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt.
