VFT888
For sale here is an all brass JB Moscrop Manchester fly reel in leather D block case. 2 1/2" diameter. One of the more scarce British reels patented by John Moscrop in 1888 and again in 1891, Moscrop's fellow Manchester Angling Society members dubbed it the "Manchester Reel". One piece frame construction with a leaded finish and brass accents. It has a horn handle and is marked on backplate "J.B. Moscrop's Patent, Manchester". It has a drag adjustment knob on the front plate that turns an exposed screw and exerts pressure on the center spindle. Eight pillars on the inside of the spool form a cage around the drag mechanism to protect it from the line.
The reel is in very good mechanical condition, unlike most of the reels that have survived to this day. There is a line burn on the stripping pillar but no surrounding cracks. The foot is full length and unaltered.
