For sale here is a Wright & McGill Granger "Stream and Lake" Bamboo Rod - Model 8642 8'6" 3/1 5-6wt. The rod remains in excellent original condition with a few issues. It is missing the second tip section and the first guide up on the midsection has been lost. The tip ferrule needs to be replaced and there is a click between the butt and mid ferrule. These are very common issues with W&M/Granger rods. All sections are full length with sets in the mid and tip.
These rods were made in 1947-1948, its predecessor being the Granger Champion. These rods featured the patented uplocking reel seat and red nylon wraps with no tipping. The script stamp remains clean and bold free of any defect. Red agate stripping guide. Handsome swelled butt. The western-style grip measures 6 3/4" in length and very smooth with only light handling marks. The patented nickel silver up-locking reel seat function smoothly as it should and is free of any dents or scratches. The ferrules are size 10/64 and 16/64 with a great fit. The rod weighs 5.20 oz. with a classic medium-fast action that balances power to finesse exceptionally well making this a great rod for larger rivers or lakes. Includes a replacement bag and no tube.
Despite the minor issues, this is a great blue-collar rod from the golden age of bamboo.
