HL Leonard Fly Rod 8' 3/2 #4/5

627

A nice H.L. Leonard fly rod, 8', 3-piece, 2-tip, built for a #4 or #5 line. Pre-fire manufacture. Medium to medium-slow action. Unused since this rod was refinished.  The rod has new guides and stripper. 3 up node pattern and oven tempered cane.  The main wraps are light tan with red edges at the keeper and male ferrules. The ferrule fit is very tight and the butt female has the patent date. The butt has a large farmers mark discoloration and the refinisher marked the wrap flat and forgot to erase it when the varnish was applied. The cigar grip is a short 4 1/2" long and is ridged from cleaning. The reel seat is varnished butternut with a cap and ring. The butt cap is stamped " H.L.L., H.L. Leonard Rod Co, Makers" in a cartouche. The rod is straight and with the fresh finish it should give many years of fishing service.  I suspect the bag is not original as there is no sign of a hangtag ever having been attached. The tube appears to be original.

Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop).
