Tom Morgan purchased the RL Winston Rod Company in 1973 and three years later moved it from San Francisco to Twin Bridges, Montana. Morgan would own the Winston rod shop until 1991. Known at first for his love of premium graphite rods Tom also made split-cane and fibergalss rods under the name Tom Morgan Rodsmiths, which he ran with his partner Gerri Carlson. When Tom developed multiple sclerosis, the two collaborated in a partnership that was widely celebrated by the rodmaking community, to say nothing of the anglers who fished Morgan rods. Tom passed away in June of 2017, but his rods and legacy continue to be highly valued. If you are looking for a Tom Morgan rod or have one to sell, please contact us.
