Max Yerxa built rods out of his Colusa, CA workshop beginning in the late 1950's, after having spent almost six years working and learning at E.C. Powell's shop. Max's uncle "Wood" was a close friend of E.C., and their close association with the Powells would last many years. Yerxa made relatively few rods but they were similar to Powell rods in many respects with a focus on hollow-built, longer length rods for western waters.
