A very nice Tom Morgan bamboo fly rod, 7', 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #3 line. Inked "99/200" on the blank along with the rod specs (the current owner relayed that he had purchased the rod from Tom Morgan directly in 2008). The rod weighs 3.4 ounces on my scale. Nice medium action, maybe slightly toward medium-fast. Near mint condition, with just a faint hint of hand soiling on the grip and some small reel foot indentations to the spacer. The rod is arrow straight and the ferrule fits are excellent. Medium wheatstraw colored cane done in a three up node pattern construction. The varnish is in excellent condition with a rubbed matte finish. Wrapped in burgundy with gold tipping at the grip, signature wraps, the ferrules, and tip tops. Agate stripper with dark guides and tip tops. Oxidized truncated ferrules that come with a handsome oxidized ferrule plug. 5 3/4" grip shaped to a full wells profile. The reel seat is an oxidized cap and ring with the Tom Morgan medallion in the cap, all over a mortised and matte finished wood spacer. The rod packs into a padded burgundy bag and an octagonal rod tube (whose top also boasts the Tom Morgan Medallion) with an overbag. A nice opportunity to own a rod by a much-loved master.
