A GH Halstead bamboo fly rod, 8'6", 3-piece, 1-tip, and built for what feels to me like a #7 line. No serial number. The rod weighs 7 ounces on my scale. Fair condition. The varnish looks pretty good but the wraps could use some attention to secure them. Powerful medium to medium fast action. Light chestnut flamed cane done in a spiral node pattern. Brown main wraps with a band of olive and red at the keeper, red at the male ferrule. Perfection stripper with high arch HSS snakes. The step ferrules are oxidized and they appear to be a more simplified design that the ferrules Halstead made for Payne, with no trim marks or scallops at all. The ferrule fits are good. The grip is soiled with a few crunch marks from the guides and measures 7" in length and shaped to a medium cigar. The uplocking screwlock has an exposed pocket cap for the reel foot. The polished nut is stamped "GH Halstead, Rods" and the wood spacer looks as though it was obtained from Pinky Gillum. The rod packs into a non-original bag and tube.
