Paul Young Parabolic 15 Bamboo Fly Rod 8' 2/2 #6

A nice Paul Young Para 15 model bamboo fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tips, and built for #6 line. The rod weighs 4.1 ounces on my scale, almost exactly the 4.08 noted on the shaft. The original owner's name and the date "March 1956" are inked on one facet, "'Parabolic 15' 8' 4.08oz HDH" on the next, and then "Paul H Young Co. - Detroit - Maker" on another. Serial #2103 is inked below the female ferrule and then just above the males on both tips, each of which are marked "DRY" and "WET", also noting the ferrule size which is 4/64 and 5/64 respectively. The rod is in original lightly used condition with no major issues that I could find. There is a small bit of alligatoring to the varnish just below the welt of the female ferrule, there are a few very minor varnish imperfections, and some light hand soiling to the grip but that's about it. Medium full-flexing parabolic action, with the dry tip a bit crisper than the wet, as expected. Two opposed node pattern and the cane has the characteristic lightly mottled color. The rod is wrapped brown and sports a keeper and carbide stripping guide with dark bronze snakes the rest of the way. There is a decorative spiral wrap just below the female ferrule and another just below the tip top on the dry tip. The ferrules are Super Z. The grip is a modified full wells with larger flare at the front which then tapers down to the keeper wrap, while the rear of the grip is relatively constant. The reel seat is a downlock over a cork spacer, and the pocket cap and barrel are both black anodized while the screwlock is bright. Young's makers stamp is found on the cap on the reverse side from the pocket. The rod packs into a tan cloth bag and an aluminum tube with an aluminum screwtop with a gray felt insert and looks to my eye to be original.
