Bill Oyster Fly Rod 7'9" 3/2 #5

SKU: 531

A nice Bill Oyster fly rod, 7'9" 3-piece, 2-tips, built for a #5  line. 5.3 oz. Serial #4621805. Near mint condition with light soiling of the grip and a small chip in the varnish on the reel seat being the only sign of use that I could see. Medium fast semi-full flexing action. The cane is medium chestnut in color and the rod is built in two opposed node pattern. The varnish is very nicely done. The wraps are pale olive with red edges at the keeper, ferrules, and tip tops. The guides and tip tops are large, thin, and are the recoil type. The swiss style ferrules are bright as is all the other hardware. The grip is large, 13 corks, 6 1/2" of a western-style and has a modest amount of soiling. The screw lock seat wood appears to be broadleaf maple burl and very nicely finished but with a chip near the heel of the grip. The screw lock appears to be nickel silver with a paired off nut and up sliding pocket cap. "Oyster" is engraved on the slide enclosed in a shell-like cartouche. The bottom of the butt cap is engraved " 7'9" 5wt " and the number "4621805". Another nice touch is "Oyster" lettered in silver ink on the wrap flat. The rod comes in a heavy black cloth bag, and a commercial black crackle painted aluminum tube with the Oyster sticker (it's coming off the tube in a few places but could be easily re-affixed).
