A nice Edward Vom Hofe Restigouche Salmon Reel, model 423, in 2/0 size. 3 3/8" diameter with a 1 3/8" spool width. Set up for RHW. Excellent original condition, with some light cosmetic wear but no major issues that I could find. The nickel silver rims have some tarnish in places (typical), the indicator dots on the backplate don't have their original red color, and one can make out a faint outline of a line sticker on the front plate under the crank, but that's about it. The sideplates are clean, the foot is unmolested, and the screw heads are all in great shape. Depending on one's preferences, this could be a good candidate for giving a (very) careful clean to bring it back to its original luster. The foot has "423" and "2/0" stamped into the crossbar. It carries the 1902 patent "Edward Vom Hofe Maker -N.Y.-" marked drag knob cover (which is offcenter slightly and needs a touch of lubrication to re-center it). The drag is in good mechanical shape, perhaps a touch light overall, though certainly fishable and the adjuster works nicely. The reel comes in what looks to me to be the original Vom Hofe leather case (it fits perfectly, and "02" is stamped on the back where one end of the straps attaches). A very fine example of this model and in a desirable size.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
