Edward Vom Hofe Model 355 Peerless Fly Reel - rare Size 3!

For sale here is a scarce early Edward Vom Hofe Model 355 fly reel - Size 3. Late 19th century reel owing to the lack of model number on the reel foot (instituted at the turn of the century), or serial number (instituted in 1908). This model was later dubbed the "Peerless" in 1911.German silver construction, including the foot and spool. The hard rubber side plates are in good condition with one slight crack on the backplate. There are also a few chips in the hard rubber on the inside rings by the spool and pillars. Mechanically the reel remains in excellent condition. The oil cap has the 1883 patent stamp. The german silver reel foot is full length and unmolested. The reel comes with its original Edward Vom Hofe stamped leather reel case with a missing strap, otherwise in good condition.
