Edwards Quadrate Model #50 Bamboo Rod 8'6" 2/2 #5

For sale here is a beautiful Edwards Quadrate Model #50 - 8'6" for a 5wt line. Three sections with two tips. The rod is in excellent+ restored condition. All sections are full length and straight with the exception of one of the tips having a slight set. Moderately tempered cane highlights the grain of the bamboo. Rich burgundy silks with black tipping. Blued guides and ferrules. The signature Edwards white script, turned yellow by varnish and time is faded slightly but still legible and otherwise undamaged. Circular loop hook keeper with alternating banded signature wraps with the same thread as on the guides. Very handsome squared bakelite winding check flows seamlessly into the cigar grip with a squared nose. The grip is a bit of a curiosity. A thin coat of varnish has been applied to the entirety of the grip. There is a stamp under the varnish on the grip that reads, "William Rosgen Fine Fishing Tackle" Also under the varnish, someone has drawn a Catskill-style dry fly in black ballpoint pen. The grip is in otherwise excellent shape. The up-locking reel seat is quite handsome and made entirely from bakelite as is the buttcap. The blued ferrules fit perfectly. The action is a solid medium-fast; swift, precise and quite smooth. A fine dry-fly rod, though well equipped for most trout situations. The rod includes the original brown bag and aluminum tube.
