For sale here is a very scarce and unused Hardy Palakona "Catskill" model bamboo rod. One of twenty-five rods made by Hardy's in 1997 as a limited edition run, along with the "Blue Ridge" and "Yellowstone" models. Six feet and eight inches in length, two sections with two tips. The rod is completely original and in unused condition. Cigar grip with down-locking ring and hooded retainer w/roll stamped Hardy identifiers, bright guides and hardware, varnished blond heat treated cane w/ 3x3 node spacing, oxidized ferrules, forest green color preserved wraps with red tipping, walnut ferrule plug, labeled burgundy bag with pocket for ferrule plugs. There's a "5" stamped into both males and the female ferrule. Serial number ILX159386. The rod weighs 3 1/8 oz and the ferrules are size 13/64 with a tight, excellent ferrule fit. The action is medium fast to fast and is designed for a 4 weight line. Comes with its original Hardy bag and original super high-quality leather tube, along with the "hang tag".
One tip on this rod was damaged during shipment to me, the cane on one tip being slightly compromised between the tip top and the first snake guide. My friends at South Creek Ltd. repaired this tip and installed a protective wrap stretching from guide wrap to tip top wrap. Without a micrometer, I was unable to notice which tip was repaired. With the exception of this minor reinforcement to one tip, this rod is in absolutely perfect condition.
