A Harold "Pinky" Gillum bamboo fly rod, 8', 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #6 or #7. Serial I-569. The rod weighs 5 ounces on my scale. The rod was re-finished at T&T in 1977 and looks to have been lawn cast a few times since then. A letter from Tom Codella at T&T accompanies the rod. Fast DF action. The T&T varnish job is, as always, superb. Lightly flamed cane with brown main wraps and yellow edges on all. The stripping guide is a perfection and the snakes are black. The step ferrules are oxidized jet black. The grip is 6" long and turned to a western style. The downlocking screw lock is aluminum with the typical Gillum richly varnished tiger stripe spacer. The pocket cap is nickel silver and stamped “H.S. Gillum, Maker” in a cartouche. The bottom cap is aluminum with a target inscribed. The bag and tube appear to be original, however the Gillum data sticker is only about 20% intact.
