A nice Marc Aroner Hunt Pattern bamboo fly rod, 7', 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #4 line. The rod weighs 3.5 ounce on my scale. This rod is one of my "M" designations with a slightly more moderate action that flexes further down into the rod, though still on the medium-fast side. The rod shows moderate use, with a fair bit of hand soiling to the grip, a scratch on the varnish on the mid between the two bottom-most guides, and some minor cosmetic wear here and there. The ferrules retain virtually all of their oxidation and the cap and ring has a little bit of brassing in a few spots. Flamed cane with a swelled butt that tapers into the grip. Three up node pattern construction. The rod is wrapped in red throughout with the tipping a slightly lighter band of red, and the keeper wrap also has one band of black at the edge. Agate stripping guide with HSS guides the rest of the way, along with oxidized tip tops. Semi-truncated oxidized swiss-style ferrules with the males featuring a coin edge knurl at the shoulder. The grip is 5" and shaped to a medium cigar with a very slight flare at the heel. Oxidized front and rear cork check. The reel seat features and oxidized cap and ring over a mortised and varnished dark cherry root burl. The cap does have some brassing edgewear as noted previously but the seat overall is in good shape. The rod packs into a tan cloth bag and a polished aluminum tube with brass fittings. A very nice little rod for light trout work.
