A Marc Aroner Spring Creek fly rod, 7', 3-piece, 2-piece, built for a #5 line. Lightly used condition. A little bit of hand soiling to the grip and a bit of edgewear to the ring and rear cork check oxidation. There is a reel foot impression from an attempt to mount a reel foot longer than a standard foot. The action is a versatile DF. This is one of my favorite rods and I keep two of them for my own fishing. I will fish streamers as well as large dry flies and terrestrials and this rod will turn over a long leader very nicely. The cane is oven tempered with small pressed nodes done in a three up pattern. The tips are mirrored. The varnish is like new. The main wraps are olive with red edges. Carbide stripper and black HSS antique snake guides. The ferrules are a mildly truncated swiss-style with a collar and recessed slant knurl. The ferrule oxidation is 100% and the ferrules are fitted with brass ferrule plugs. The grip is 5 1/2" long and done in a medium cigar profile. The cap and ring seat is a mortised, varnished, birdseye maple that perfectly matches the color of the cane. The butt cap is stamped "Aroner, Maker" in a cartouche. I built this rod approximately between 1995 and 2000. It comes with the original cloth bag and polished aluminum tube with brass fittings with my roller die stamp on the brass collar.
