Hardy 1912 Perfect Fly Reel 4 1/4" [SALE PENDING]

A very nice Hardy Perfect 4 1/2" wide drum salmon reel with the desirable 1912 check. A fine specimen here in excellent original condition, with very little wear for its age. The patina is in terrific shape and the reel is devoid of any issues that I could find. The foot has a very slight, almost imperceptible bend on one end but that's about it. Very nice smooth click and the spool is tight with no wobble whatsoever. Rotating nickel silver lineguard. There is no line burn on the pillars, which is rare in a reel of this vintage. The winding plate also has the initials "AB" stamped inside of a tiny circle, denoting the reelmakers Alfred/Freddie Broadley who worked on many of these early salmon perfects. The smooth brass foot is 4 1/8" long and is unmolested, with only the very slight bend previously noted. The patina is also excellent throughout. The ivorine handle spins freely with a small bit of play, and the reel has the handsome turks head nut. Put it all together and this is definitely one of the nicer examples of this rare model that you'll come across. The reel packs into a handsome Hardy selvyt drawstring pouch.
