A rare Hardy "Jon Tarantino #2" model bamboo fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 1-tip, and built for what feels to me like a #5 line. Tarantino, of course, was a world champion fly caster during the 1950's through the 1970's. The rod weighs 4.3 ounces on my scale. It was originally made as a one-tip rod as the bag only has a provision for one. The rod has seen some use and restoration. The wraps have been replaced at the ferrules and the bottom guide on the tip. The grip has also been sanded. Three up node pattern construction. The rod is varnished with red main wraps with white edges. The step ferrule is oxidized. The grip is 6 1/4" long and shaped to a blunt cigar profile. The downlocking screwlock has a black anodized barrel and frost anodized opposed pocket caps and nut. The rod packs into a green Hardy bag and brown painted aluminum tube.
