A nice Bob Summers-era Paul H. Young Parabolic 15 bamboo rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tip and built for a #5 or #6 line. Serial no. 4567 made in 1972. The rod is in excellent condition with all sections are full length and straight. It has the classic PHY mottle-flamed cane done in two-opposed nodes. Excellent varnish with copper-colored wraps and blued guides. The script, in Summers' handwriting, notes the original owner (Richard V Rounds) and date (5/30/72), as well as "A Paul H. Young Co. Rod", and " 'Parabolic 15"' 8' 4 oz." on successive flats. Garrison-style hook keeper. The cigar grip measures 6 1/2" in length with moderate soiling. Black aluminum down-locking reel seat over a cork spacer. The butt cap features the PHY maker's mark. The step ferruled fit perfectly. Bob made many rods in this time frame with these same ferrules rather than Super Z's. The rod weighs 4.2 ounces on my scale and one tip is noted as a dry tip which has a slightly faster action than the wet. The rod packs into the original satin bag and tube.
