A very nice EF Payne bamboo fly rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #4 line. The rod weighs 3.2 ounces. Likely a model 100 based on the specifications. A lovely little rod with a great feel, a bit on the faster side of medium. Original condition with no detectable wear to the snakes or guides. No impression on the Spanish cedar reel seat either. There is some edgewear to the cap and ring oxidation and some rubbing to the patina on the grip. There is bad adhesion to the lower portion of the tips, however, though the problem appears to be entirely cosmetic. Brown main wraps with yellow edges on all. A band of purple and another pale green at the keeper and male ferrules. The stripper is a small perfection with bronze snakes and small hoop tip tops. No casting cracks to the ferrule wraps. The ferrules are oxidized jet black and the rod is straight. The cigar grip is 5 1/2" long. Slide band reel seat over a Spanish cedar spacer. The seat insert has suffered from soft varnish impressions as well. Later model die stamp on the seat. The olive rod bag is correct but there is no hang tag. The aluminum rod tube is non-original.
