For sale here is a Per Brandin hollow-built six-strip (hex) bamboo rod. 8'3 for a 4 weight line. Rod weighs 3.2 oz. Two sections with two tips. Made in 1999. From Per's description of this taper, "At 8'3" and a #4 line, this rod fills the need for a longer rod for spring creeks and smaller flies, but still with a very positive action. It has become the rod of choice for me and several other very experienced anglers on rivers such as the Henry's Fork and Missouri where smaller flies are the norm. The extra length of this rod compared to more traditional bamboo rods casting a #4 line gives this rod an edge in casting and line control." The rod features Per's typical flared wells grip, reel seat with a burled Claro walnut spacer (from Per, this was pre ~2001 before he stared using mahogany spacers) and oxidized cap & ring. The rod also features Per's ultra-truncated 'micro' swiss style ferrules. Wraps are cinnamon with black tipping at the ferrules, tip-top, and above the winding check. Comes in Per's brass-capped tube, made in-house and the original bag he made in 1999. The rod is in near mint original condition, showing very slight usage.
Per recently told me this particular rod is one of the 834 models he is most proud of. As you all know, each bamboo rod, even the same model by the same maker, is unique in its casting qualities. And especially when hollowing techniques are involved.
Please note: Payment is requested by bank check or wire transfer. If you must pay by Paypal or credit card, an extra charge of 3-4% will apply depending on where the rod will be shipped.
