A nice Per Brandin Model 85-4-2 hollow built prototype fly rod, 8’5”, 2-piece, 2-tip, built for a #4 line. Weighs 3.0 ounces. Built in 2019. Designated a “Tournament Grade” which is inked halfway up the butt section, and further down “Brandin”, “854-2 DF”, and “HB Prototype 2019” in successive flats in the usual place. The tips are also inked with the the rod data just above each male ferrule. Medium fast full-flexing action. Two-opposed node pattern construction and the cane is a light wheatstraw color with a matte finish. Wrapped in cinnamon with black tipping at the ferrules. Three signature style wraps in a 2-3-2 succession partway up the butt section. Near mint condition with just the faintest bit of handsoiling to the grip and few other signs of meaningful use. Bright truncated Swiss-style ferrules. The fit is a tad snug on them, and one tip has a slight set and twist, which should be easily straightened. The rod includes a ferrule plug for the female and an agate stripper. Powell-style grip with an all-cork reel seat over which is an aluminum slide band and pocket cap. The rod comes packed in a tan poplin bag and an aluminum tube with brass fittings with Per’s data sticker affixed to it, and also includes a tan overbag with a foldover tie top.
