A Ron Kusse “Performance” model bamboo fly rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #6 line. Very Fast action. The rod has seen very little use, I suspect lawn cast only. No tanning to the grip, just a bit of wear to the inner snake guides. Very light flamed cane with slightly darker spots here and there. No recognizable node pattern. Serial #8553. The rod weighs 4.4 ounces. Very high quality varnish with no flaws. The wraps have been epoxied leaving them well built up. The main wrap color is light brown with dark brown at the ferrules and tip tops. The swiss ferrules are oxidized jet black. The stripper is a black carbide ring and the snake guides are black high speed steel. The grip is 6" and shaped to a long slim cigar profile. The seat is cap and ring with a nicely varnished quartersawn Walnut spacer. A wood lip of the seat mates to the bottom of the cork grip. The seat hardware has been painted jet black and the cap has suffered some chipping (most likely from shipping) around the bottom. The cap is stamped “Ron Kusse, maker,” in a cartouche. The rod packs into a tan cloth bag with a stiffener and brushed aluminum tube with brass hardware.
