An early Sierra King Flycaster model fly reel, 3 3/8" diameter and set up for RHW. This reel was the early predecessor to the Thompson 100 fly reel, made for just a few years. Hardy perfect style design though the internal drag boasts a normal click and pawl along with a separate brake shoe drag, both of which are adjusted via tension adjusters in the rim. Fair used condition with a good amount of cosmetic wear throughout though no major defects that I could find. Ribbed brass foot. Metal lineguard set into a larger crossbar. Aluminum handle. Along with the name, model, and San Jose location, "US Patent Applied For" is etched into the winding plate. Built to accommodate #5/6 lines. The reel packs into a Hardy style leather block case ("Tourbon" is stamped into the case top). A rare early predecessor to the Thompson 100 reel that's hard to find.
