Ted Godfrey Salmon Spey Reel 4" [SALE PENDING]

A nice Ted Godfreys Salmon Spey fly reel, 4" diameter, set up for RHW. The spool width is approximately 1.3" and the reel weighs 12.8 ounces on my scale. A classic S-handle style reel in the tradition of Vom Hofe. The accompanying Godfrey card with the reel says "Sal III" for the model, though it appears identical to the Salmon II as far as I can tell. It also notes that the reel is serial #004 made in September of 2002. Excellent, very lightly used condition bordering on near mint. There is some very minute scuffing on the frame edge, some tiny mounting marks on the foot, but otherwise the reel is very clean and could not have been fished much at all. Serpentine S-handle with a black handle and nickel silver counterbalance and end cap. Stainless steel pillars, doubled at the 6 and 12 position, with the reel foot mounted to those at the 6. The backplate boasts a Godfrey nameplate , a poacher's knob, oil port cover, and a 10-position drag lever. The drag is very powerful indeed when moved into the heavier positions. Nice smooth drag. This is a great reel which is ready for more days on the water chasing big salmon. It comes in a Tourbon leather block case.
