A beautiful Tom Maxwell fly rod, 7', 2-piece, 2-tip, built for a #4 line. 3.1 ounces. Mint uncast condition. Medium fast action but flexing well into the butt. Should be a very forgiving action with light tippets. Mirrored tips and flamed "hunt" style cane. Three up node pattern. The usually absolutely perfect Maxwell varnish - a treat to behold! The butt is inked with the true top-hatted casting man and "7' 4wt". The wraps are the same color used on the Leonard hunt series and when varnished against a dark blank turns to a dark garnet color. The stripping guide is agate and the snakes are antique high arch, high speed steel. The ferrules are oxidized step ferrules. The ferrule fits are perfect and all the sections are pin straight. The grip is 5" long and shaped to a medium cigar and still has the heat shrink plastic over it. The reel seat is an oxidized cap and ring over a smokey banded coat of glass varnished turkish walnut. Green poplin bag, black coated aluminum tube with brass fixtures. You will not see another Maxwell finer than this.
