For sale here is a superb E.C. Powell (Tony Maslan built) 8'6" 2/2 B-taper rod. The rod is in excellent original condition. All section are full length and straight. Honey-toned cane mostly with some natural color variation. Gold wraps with full intermediates. Black and creme tipping at the winding check. Bright guides. Hook-keeper made of smaller sized guide. Written on the rod clearly and showing no wear is "E.C. Powell Rod Co." as well as "Pat. No. 1,932,986", which is Powell's patent for hollow building filed on May 12, 1931. A link to the patent here.
The rod features the characteristic Powell style grip. The grip is in excellent shape. there is some very minor early ridging as well as a small gap created by natural voids in the cork. Aluminum up-locking reel seat with a black bakelite spacer.. There is a faint scratch across the spacer. Size 12/64 ferrules and the fit is perfect. The rod has a very smooth medium fast dry fly like action for a 5wt. Rod weighs 4.40 oz. Rod includes original bag and replacement Champion style tube. Also included is the original packing sleeve that went around the tube for shipping with a green and white E.C. Powell label that has been very nicely preserved.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
