Megan Boyd is arguably the most famous salmon fly tyer who ever lived. Her love of salmon flies began alongside the River Brora in the Scottish Highlands, though she moved to Kintradwell in 1935 when she was in her early twenties. Her talent as a classic salmon tyer grew to the point where she tied flies for many of the most celebrated anglers of the day, including the royal family. In 1971 she was awarded the British Empire Medal, and she continued to tie salmon flies until 1985 when she retired from commercial tying. Despite her tying prowess she never fished a single day in her life. If you are looking for Megan Boyd salmon flies or have some to sell, please contact us.
