A nice Paul Young "Texas General" bamboo fly rod, 8'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #7 line. Fast action. 5.3 oz. The original owners name and the date of April 1953 are both inked on the rod. The rod appears to be mint. I see no sign of brassing to the inner guides. Very powerful rod for a 7 weight and should cast a country mile. The cane is flamed with dark patches. Nodes are two-opposed. The main wraps are a bronze gold color. Guides are high arch. Oxidized Super Z ferrules. The rod is straight as a pin. The grip is 6 1/2" and styled to a half-wells profile. The rod is fitted with a black anodized aluminum down-locking screw lock. The spacer is cork and the bottom has a nickel silver pocket cap, oxidized black and stamped "Paul H. Young Co. Detroit, Mich.". The rod bag and tube appear to be original. You won't find a nicer example of this model than this!
