Abel #5 Fly Reel with Spare Spool [SALE PENDING]

A nice Abel No. 5 fly reel with a spare spool, 5" diameter and set up for RHW. The reel boasts a a 1 3/8" spool width and weighs 15.3 ounces on my scale. This heavy-duty model is very tough to come by - in fact out of all of the Abels I've handled this may be the first standalone No 5 model (it corresponds to the Super 13 and 14). This one is in mint, unfished condition. The porting design differs slightly on the spools, one has standard circles while the other boasts an oval and teardrop alternating design and slightly larger arbor (this second spool may have been added later). Black anodized throughout in characteristic Abel fashion. The drag is adjusted via the dial on the back plate. Serial number 338. Both the reel and spare spool pack into original Abel cordura pouches. A great combination here if you are going to be chasing big fish!
