An excellent and hard-to-find AL Walker “Fairie” trout reel, 2 1/4” in diameter and set up for RHW (the drag itself feels fairly neutral, though the check is louder in one direction than the other). The reel weighs 4.2 ounces on my scale. This was the smallest trout reel ever made by either Walker, father or son. I can find no sign that the reel has ever been fished. The foot, spool, knurled grease cap and protective rims are aluminum. Two of the shouldered pillars are German silver, as are portions of the “S” shaped handle. The hard rubber black side plates and corresponding screws do not have a ding or a scratch on them. The grease cap has the earlier “ALW” (Arthur Lawson Walker) stamping. This tiny reel comes in an original Walker bag and a later leather block case made by Alan Kube. A very rare reel in terrific condition.
