For sale here is a Per Brandin hollow-built six-strip (hex) bamboo rod. 8'3 for a 4 weight line. This rod belonged to Walt Carpenter and was obtained from Per while the two were fishing together many years ago. The rod weighs 3.14 oz. Medium fast dry fly action. Two sections with one tip - originally made this way in 1996. From Per's description of this taper, "At 8'3" and a #4 line, this rod fills the need for a longer rod for spring creeks and smaller flies, but still with a very positive action. It has become the rod of choice for me and several other very experienced anglers on rivers such as the Henry's Fork and Missouri where smaller flies are the norm. The extra length of this rod compared to more traditional bamboo rods casting a #4 line gives this rod an edge in casting and line control."The rod features honey blonde cane, Per's typical flared wells grip, bright n/s cap & ring reel seat over a butternut wood spacer, and Per's micro swiss style ferrules. Wraps are cinnamon with black tipping at the ferrules, tip-top, and winding check. Comes in Per's brass-capped tube and a two-compartment rod bag recently sent to me by Per to replace the prior bag made by a friend. The rod is in near mint condition.
