Sam Carlson Fly Rod 7'6" 2/2 #5 Quad

A simply superb 7'6" 2-piece, 2-tip, Sam Carlson quad with a fast D.F. action for a #5 weight line. Near mint condition. Short Carlson rods rarely come to market, and this quad is a phenomenal example of Sam's legendary work and a must-have for any serious collector. As bamboo enthusiasts know, Sam was the last direct link to the "Golden Age"of rodmaking.

This quad has lightly flamed cane wrapped brown with black edges, an agate stripper, bronze guides, and a western style grip with a tiny amount of hand soiling. The reel seat is cork with a slide band and nickle silver pocket cap. The oxidation is brassed in a few tiny spots on the cap. All hardware and ferrules are oxidised. The rod is marked "Bill Rosgen̢, ̢Winsted Conn" a tackle retail shop for which Sam produced rods. The varnish is exquisite. Aluminum tube and bag. This rod also comes with one of Sam's business cards wrapped around the tube as well as a letter of authentication from Dana Gray -- Sam's protege who still makes rods under the Carlson name -- who has estimated the manufacture date of this rod to be 1970. Don't miss this opportunity!
