An excellent Dana Gray "Carlson Four" model bamboo fly rod, 7', 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for what feels to me like a #4. Quad design. Fast dry fly action. The rod appears to be in near mint condition with just the slightest trace of grip soiling. The rod is nice and straight. Medium color cane done in a spiral node pattern. The varnish is excellent. "Carlson Four" inked on the butt along with "143-472". Wrapped red with black tipping at the grip, ferrules, and tip tops. Signature wraps. Hook keeper and a small carbide stripper. Oxidized 12/64 ferrules. 5 1/2" grip with a medium profile that is figured to mate with the square composite front cork check. Oxidized cap and ring over a mortised wood spacer and Dana's maker stamp is lightly pressed into the cap. The rod packs into a tan cloth bag and an aluminum tube with brass fittings. Dana's rods seldom come to market these days and if you're a fan of quads, you won't do better than this.
