For sale here is a very scarce (possibly unique?) Lyle Dickerson Model 8616 Special. 8 1/2 feet with two sections and two tips. Only one of this model is listed in the Dickerson ledger according to Stein and Schaff's book. Fully assembled with the full length tip section, the rod actually measures 8' 5 1/8" in length - made that way. Excellent original condition. One of the tips is shorter by 1/4" and the tip top silks appear a bit darker than the other tip-top silks. There is also a minor ding in the varnish on the butt section between the last two guides that received a protective varnish overcoat. Overall, the varnish shows some light use marks otherwise. All sections are straight.
Chestnut wraps and black tipping. Blued guides. The script remains clean and bold. The full wells grip measures 6 3/8". Aluminum down-locking reel seat hardware over a walnut spacer with a nickel silver butt cap. The ferrules fit together perfectly, nice and tight. The rod weighs 5.45 oz. The action is fast, powerful, and quite smooth with a 7 line. Well suited for dries, streamers, or nymphing. Comes with the original bag and tube.
