For sale here is a super-rare Dingley fixed spool reel. This has to be the most historically desirable Dingley Fixed Spool (Spinning) reel out there. Made by the Dingley shop in 1945, this half bail arm reel was the personal property of Ernest Dingley, and subsequently inherited by his son, Dr. Raymond Dingley ~ the written and signed provenance is included with the reel.
Because the Dingley shop was deemed to have "transgressed the patents for the Ambidex reelâ" they had to stop making this reel which is why so few are seen. Graham Turner writing in his 2009 "Fishing Tackleâ" says ~ "The Dingley is in my opinion one of the most desirable fixed spool reelsâ". The reel has the maker's oval logo and the (as yet untraced) patent number. Currently set up for right hand wind the reel is thought to be easily swapped over to left hand.
A fine example of a rare reel.
This reel will ship from the UK where Vintage Fly Tackle is now set-up to accept consignments from the EU community.
