A nice Edward Vom Hofe 423 Restigouche salmon reel in a 3/0 size. 3 5/8" diameter with a 1 7/16" spool width. Weighs 13.1 ounces. The reel is in excellent overall condition. Hard rubber sideplates are excellent as is the serpentine handle, the roller pillars, etc. Aluminum spool. The reel foot is nickel silver and has been dressed to round the tips for modern reel seats. Also the top edges of the foot show signs of a file. This was likely done with the foot on the reel, as there are some small scratches and scuffs on the nickel silver rims in that area. This is the only real condition issue I can find. The foot crossbar is stamped "423" and "3/0" and on the end "U185", indicating a 1928 manufacture date. The reel has the 1896 improved tension drag. All the screws are present although a few of the screw heads are a bit chewey. The oil port is stamped "Edward Vom Hofe, Maker, N.Y., Pat, May, 20.02". The reel packs in an excellent unmarked leather reel case.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
