For sale here is a Paul French "Midge" bamboo rod - 6'3" 2/2 for a 4 weight line. Paul French built most of his rods in the 90's and was greatly influenced at that time by Darryl Whitehead. He built very exquisite rods and those fortunate enough to own one tend to hold on to them. This one remains in excellent condition, full length and straight.
The rod features darkly tempered cane with black wraps. Red and gold tipping at the winding check, ferrules, and tip-tops. The second tip features two bands of red at the tip-top. Blued guides with the exception of the agate stripping guide. The script is as clean and bold as the day it was written. Nickel silver checks. Cigar grip 6" in length with mild soiling. Nickel silver cap and ring reel seat over a mortised wood spacer. The Swiss-style ferrules have an excellent fit and include a fine brass ferrule plug. The rod weighs a lean 2.85 oz. The action is a crisp dry-fly on the faster side of medium-fast and capable of considerable finesse and delicacy. Includes the original bag and tube with maker and rod information engraved in the cap.
Don't miss out on this sweet little rod!
