A nice Gary Howells bamboo fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #5 line. Serial #4625 dating it to 1980. 4.1 oz. Medium to medium-slow action. Used but well cared for condition. There is some faint hand soiling to the grip and some small cosmetic casting cracks to the ferrule wraps. The rod is nice and straight. Light chestnut oven temper cane with a 3-up node pattern. The main wraps are brown with yellow edges. SRMC carbide stripper and chrome snakes. Excellent varnish. The ferrules have the characteristic overwrap. The grip is 6" long and shaped to a Western profile with a hidden pocket cap. The seat is polished aluminum up-lock screw lock over a nicely varnished wood spacer. The rod comes in a maroon cloth bag and an aluminum rod tube with Gary’s data sticker in 100% original condition.
