A George Guba "Leonard 39-5" Model Bamboo Fly Rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tips, built for a #5 line. 3.6 ounces. Looks to be in mint condition with no wear to the inner guides or any other signs of use that I could find. Medium fast to fast action. The cane is done in a light flame, about two shades lighter than the Leonard "Hunt" models. The shaft is lettered "L.H. #39 7 1/2" 5W, by George Guba '05", and then the original owner's name. 3 up node pattern configuration but no swell. The rod is wrapped in an orange-red color similar to the Chinese red and color preserved. At some of the guide feet there has been some varnish bleedthrough darkening the wrap. Agate stripper and dark snake guides. The step ferrules are oxidized and one tip ferrule I would consider a tiny loose fitting. 5 1/2" medium cigar grip. The reel seat is a late model Leonard stamped oxidized cap and ring, and the wood is an excellent tiger maple. Both tips need a tiny bit of straightening. Khaki colored bag with a frost aluminum tube with a brass top.
