For sale here is a hollow-built bamboo rod handcrafted in Japan by Katsumi Harada - 7 feet 7 inches, two sections with a single tip section for a 5 weight line. The rod is constructed from madake cane, creating a very smooth and moderate progressive action, aided by his use of a carbon and bamboo spigot ferrule system, allowing the rod taper to flex consistently through the ferrule sections. Traditional 3-up node pattern. Harada-san points out that madake cane has very fine fibers, resulting in a slower action, yet far from weak. The fine fibers also result in blanks with a very smooth and beautiful surface.Beautiful Kalin spacer, similar to rosewood. The wood on the butt end plate is black persimmon, or coromandel. Translucent light brown silk wraps with black edges. The rod weighs 3 1/4 oz. The spar urethane varnish is perfectly executed. Comes with a custom Harada rod bag.
The price has been recently discounted due to the recent and abrupt strength of the US Dollar versus the Japanese Yen. This is a stellar opportunity to take advantage of a reduced price (perhaps temporary) for a top-notch bamboo rod by one of the best!
