Hardy Kenya Bamboo Fly Rod 8' 3/2 #6/7

A rare Hardy Palakona "Kenya"  bamboo fly rod, 8', 3-piece, 2-tip, and while there is no line weight listed I'd try it with a #6 or #7. Serial "E84758" which dates the rod to approximately 1952. This is a scarce model, I've only seen a small handful of them over the years. The rod weighs 5.1 ounces on my scale. Medium action, a bit faster than what I've normally found from older Hardy rods. Very good condition with some cosmetic wear that you'd expect from a rod of its age, but no significant issues that I could find. "Regd Trademark", "Palakona", and "The Kenya" are inked on the shaft in the typical spiral fashion. Medium color cane done in a three up node pattern. The varnish is very good. Wrapped in dark red throughout including full intermediates. The rod has an agate stripper, bridge guides along its entire length, and then agate tip tops. Oxidized step ferrules that are in good condition, with the females retaining virtually all of their oxidation and the males on the tips having some loss. There are two ferrule plugs. The grip is 6 3/4" in length and shaped to half wells profile, with some ridging here and there and little cork loss at the edge of the heel in one area adjacent to the hidden pocket cap. The reel seat is an aluminum uplocking screwlock over a bakelite spacer, and the ring has the royal warrant lightly engraved, with the serial number stamped at the bottom of the barrel. The rod packs into its original cloth bag which includes an intact hangtag as well as a non-original contemporary tube for safer transport. The rod also includes a tin with original ferrule wax as well as an accompanying original wrench meant to help with tightening the screwlock reel seat. A really nice example here of a very rare model, a great opportunity for the Hardy aficionado!
