A rare Hardy Salmon Uniqua fly reel, circa 1909 when they were first introduced. 3 3/4" diameter with nice wide 1 5/16" spool width. This reel boasts the right angle pillars that indicate a pre-1910 manufacture date, and it also has the 1905 caliper style check. The outer latch is the oval design with "oil" stamped into the nickel silver. The frame is in excellent condition free of cracks, chips, or other defects and retains most of its leaded finish. The spool has lost some of its finish at the outer part and there is some mild surface corrosion there, though it is not terrible. The smooth brass foot measures approximately 3 1/2" in length. The drag is excellent mechanically with a nice loud click. As is common with Uniquas there is some modest play in the spool. Ivorine handle that spins freely and with a tiny bit of travel on the pin. No bag or case. All in all this is a very fine example of a reel that's more than a hundred years old.
