Hawes 8'6" 3/2 #5 Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a Hawes bamboo fly rod. Eight and a half feet in length, three sections with two tips. The rod weighs 4 1/4 oz and casts a five weight line nicely. The rod is in excellent restored condition. Very clean cane work. The cane is a blonde straw color though the mid section is much darker. Oil matte finish with bright red silks and full intermediates. Reverse-twist guides, quite small to accommodate the use of a silk line. Cigar grip 4 3/4" in length. The grip is in lightly ridged and there is a small area at the base where filler has been used to fill a hook gouge. Nickel-silver cap and ring reel seat. Stamped on the reel seat is Hawes and Co. as well as "Abercrombie & Fitch Sole Agents". Ferrule sizes 15/64 and 9/64. The mid-section female ferrule and tip male ferrules only seat about halfway. The other ferrules fit properly. Medium action representative of the fishing style of the day. Replacement bag and original tube.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
