For sale here is a Jim Hidy hollow-built bamboo rod - 8'6" 3/3 5wt. No. W25963H-3. The rod is in near mint condition having only been lawn cast. All sections are full length and straight.
The rod features mildly tempered cane with transparent honey wraps with black tipping at the winding check, ferrules, and tip-tops. The ferrules are wrapped in a transparent amber. Each of the tip-tops are wrapped in a different color to differentiate them. Blued hardware throughout. Agate stripping guide. The full-wells grip measures 6 1/4" in length with only the slightest evidence of handling. Elegant blued nickel silver cap and ring reel seat over a mortised walnut spacer. The Swiss-style truncated ferrules have a perfect fit. The rod weighs an even 4 oz. The rod has an action on the medium side of medium-fast capable of the utmost finesse and delicacy. Includes the original bag and tube.
Jim's rods are hand planed, hollow built into the tips, and exhibit some of the best cane work of any rod being made today. Jim's tapers have been tested and tweaked over the years as he states, "in laboratory conditions" at the casting ponds of the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club. He hand turns his high-quality hardware fittings. His tapers and resulting rod actions are amongst the most coveted by fishermen worldwide.

My rods are primarily progressive tapers with moderate actions, making them suitable for both wet and dry style fishing. The lower and middle sections start to function early in lengthening the line while allowing for a very powerful cast. This makes for a rod that is fun and effective to fish in close, yet able to deliver long casts with ease. Coupled with a process of hollow building well into the upper part of the rod, the result is a combination of lightness, quicker recovery (dampening) and pleasure of fishing.

Shipping Information
- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt.
